Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer

Intent

The SSI Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar provides candidates with the knowledge, skills, and experience necessary to certify Freediving Assistant Instructors and Freediving Instructors, and to assist in teaching freediving instructor-level training courses.

Minimum Instructor Rating

An active status Freediving Instructor Trainer who is authorized by SSI International may conduct the Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar.

Candidate Prerequisites

  • Minimum age: 18 years old.
Have the following active status SSI certifications (no equivalency permitted):
  • Advanced Freediving Instructor
Have issued at least:
  • 50 total freediving certifications
  • 30 Pool Freediver or Freediver certifications
  • 10 Advanced Freediver certifications
  • 5 Training Techniques certifications

Duration

  • Recommended hours for completion: 50-64.

Depth Limitations

  • Maximum depth limit: 20 meters.

In-Water Ratios

  • The candidate-to-instructor ratio is 6:1.

Minimum Supervision

  • An active status Freediving Instructor Trainer who is authorized by SSI International must directly supervise all academic and in-water activities.

Requirements For Completion

  • Complete and pass all requirements for Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer.
  • Complete the program’s final exam.
  • Complete the Candidate Water Fitness Evaluation as outlined in the SSI General Training Standards.
  • Complete the applicable performance requirements as outlined in the SSI Training Standards.

Certification

  • Upon completion of the Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar, send the candidate’s training record with all required documentation to the responsible SSI Service Center.
  • The candidate will be certified as a Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer.

Active Status Requirements

  • Exemplify the SSI philosophy and display competence in applying the SSI Business System.
  • Attend all applicable mandatory updates scheduled by SSI International.
  • Conduct at least one (1) complete freediving instructor-level training course every 24 months. Or, if SSI International offers a mandatory update, complete at least one (1) within 24 months.
  • If this time period is exceeded, they may extend their active status Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer certification by attending a remedial training session coordinated by SSI International and an International Training Director. They will remain in retired status until the remedial training session is completed.
  • SSI Professionals are responsible for the quality of their training. If a significant number of their candidates fail due to inadequate training quality (for example, bad organization or planning), a Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer may be required to complete another Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainer Seminar or revert to the highest professional certification that they meet the minimum active status requirements for.

Active Status Qualifications

In addition to the programs taught by active status Advanced Freediving Instructors, active status Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainers may teach, supervise and issue certifications for the following programs:
  • Freediving Assistant Instructor
  • Freediving Instructor
  • Basic Freediving Instructor Trainer
  • Specialty Instructor Seminar (if they have the applicable Specialty Instructor certification)
Active status Freediving Assistant Instructor Trainers may also:
  • Assist a Freediving Instructor Trainer in conducting freediving instructor-level training courses.
  • Conduct Freediving Professional Crossover programs up to the Freediving Instructor level.
  • Create Personal Note
  • Report Translation Mistake
  • Report Technical Error
